BANDS UNDER THE RADAR (BUTR) INTRODUCES FIRST DIRECT-TO-FAN DIGITAL PLAYLIST LABEL

BUTR MUSIC PODCAST CELEBRATES 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

BUTR LAUNCHES NEWLY CREATED SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE OFFERING FANS 100 SONGS FOR ONLY $10

November 16, 2009 — Nashville, TN — Bands Under The Radar (BUTR, pronounced ‘butter’), introduces the first direct-to-fan digital playlist label. Recently launched as an extension of the BUTR music podcast, each digital playlist brings music to listeners through its’ newly created subscription service, which is now offering 100 songs for only $10. Rolling out in five bundles of 20 songs, the first playlist is currently available at www.bandsundertheradar.com.

Celebrating its 5th Anniversary this month, BUTR podcasts have been downloaded over 3 million times, growing its grassroots fan base by introducing true music lovers to the best bands and songs they have never heard of. Hypebot.com named BUTR a “worthy click,” while Phoenix Examiner praised founder, host and producer Kami Knake, saying “This podcast is non-stop tunes. BUTR gives you just what the name promises…you will hear songs that get your toe tapping or heart breaking, and you will wonder just who it is by. And yes, go ahead and pat yourself on the back for recognizing a ‘band under the radar’ before Kami tells you who it was.”

With the goal of becoming the listeners most trusted source for music discovery, the BUTR podcast attempts to filter out the noise of the cluttered musical landscape. BUTR searches out the new buzzworthy bands and delivers the best tracks directly to the subscribers inbox. The listener doesn’t have to waste time looking for new tunes, while artists featured in a BUTR podcast receive valuable impressions and web traffic from BUTR’s built in fan base. Artists have reported spikes in fan outreach, as well as being contacted by music industry folks after being featured on a BUTR podcast.

BUTR makes music more accessible to the fans, which is key to new music discovery. Music lovers can listen to full tracks before they buy and are encouraged to dive deeper into artist catalogs via the podcast and via the BUTR website, where links are posted to artists’ websites and social networks. BUTR podcasts are available through the website as well as iTunes.
